Business solutions to measure impact and
drive change. Effortlessly.
Kia ora, hej, hello!
My name is Caroline Thalund
In 2019, I had an idea that sparked the creation of Sustainability 360. At the time, I was part of the sustainability team at Christchurch International Airport, where I noticed that sustainability information was not easily accessible to all staff, and tracking sustainability goals was a real challenge for senior executives. Reporting was cumbersome and resource-intensive, making progress difficult to manage.
Determined to solve these problems, I developed a digital solution that made sustainability accessible, transparent, and easier to track.
Word quickly spread, and businesses began
asking for access to this platform. Realising its potential, I decided to create a more powerful and scalable tool that could serve a broader audience – and so S360 was born.
I’m originally from Denmark, one of the most sustainable countries in the world, where I completed my dual master's degree in science and communication. This included a focus on behavioural psychology, equipping me with the skills to simplify complex subjects like sustainability in order to make them easy to action. Although terms like “sustainability”, "impact" and “ESG” were not widely used at the time in the same way they are now, they formed the foundation of my work. I have spent over 20 years gaining global experience across industries like investment, software, construction, retail, manufacturing, aviation, and tourism.
Now, I combine the strength and principles of Scandinavian sustainability with New Zealand's deep-rooted connection to nature, innovative spirit, and commitment to environmental stewardship to create global solutions that empower businesses to drive meaningful change.
Alongside my role as founder and CEO of S360, I’m also a Professor of Practice at the University of Canterbury, where I design and deliver executive education courses in business sustainability. My passion is helping businesses and leaders understand sustainability in a practical, accessible way.
When I’m not working on sustainability solutions, you can find me out exploring New Zealand's beautiful landscapes with my dog Tiki and my family. I believe in balancing work with nature and play, and that same human touch is at the heart of everything we do at S360.
